December 1989

In a few days the year of 1989 comes to an end and with it the eighties.  A decade that just in the last few days gained special significance with the fall of the Iron Curtain.

As in the last two years, the US president and Gorbachev met in early December.  At long last we see the end of the cold war.

This past summer we had the opportunity to buy the office building our business has been renting.  The closing took place last week.  The building has 10,000 square feet and the parking area has room for 28 cars.  Our architect visited us in the summer and spent several weeks on plans to create a “High-Tech” environment.

Our children help in the business.  Susan received her High School Diploma in June.  She worked at Theta while she was home, then spent part of her summer at the Goethe Institute in Germany.  Now she is studying at the University of Michigan in Ann Arbor.

It was a decade of traveling for our family.  In the seventies Peter was too young to go with us and in the nineties the girls may not be able to join us.

All of us enjoyed a Caribbean Cruise that took us to five different islands and a trip to Switzerland and Northern Italy.

Tanya, who is a sports enthusiast, participated in a six-week Pacific Coast bicycle trip over the summer, from Seattle to San Francisco – 1200 miles!

Peter went with a friend’s family to the Dominican Republic for four weeks.

We wish you all a very happy Holiday Season and a healthy and prosperous New Year.
